The annual Blessing of the Fleet took place on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Skansie Brothers Park in Gig Harbor.
A cherished highlight of the Gig Harbor Maritime Gig Fest, the event continues a long-standing tradition in which parishioners, accompanied by Fr. Mark and members of the Knights of Columbus, process from the Old Church down to the waterfront park. Following a description of the blessing’s significance, Fr. Mark, Deacon Mikhail, and other clergy boarded boats to offer prayers and blessings for the safety and success of the local fishing fleet as it prepared to depart for the waters of Alaska.
The day brought together faith, community, and maritime heritage in a beautiful celebration. It was a wonderful Sunday filled with joy, and fun was had by all who attended.
